On Wednesday morning I drove into Oxford, parked up (that was bloody expensive) and wandered down Queen Street - Wow. This is a junction where you are overwhelmed by fantastic buildings all around you.
Walk up an alley way and you are in Radcliffe Square and this is the Radcliffe Camera, one of the reading rooms of the Bodleian Library.
Surrounded by more fantastic architecture
on every side.
Walk away via another beautiful alleyway - St Mary's Passage
The indoor market has a medieval feel and even has it's own old post box in the middle.
We stayed just outside Oxford along the Thames, sat and ate a delicious meal at this riverside restaurant which was on a lock and watched the canal boats passing through.
Took a stroll along the river where trimmed hedges and weeping willows are de rigueur.
I don't like to imagine how much a house, with its own mooring, costs here.
On Monday I will be showing you the Toast shop and another shop I found in Jericho (no kidding) where I didn't die but went to heaven. I met an Oxford version of me. COME BACK MONDAY AND PREPARE TO BE BLOWN AWAY.

Wonderful, wonderful Oxford with its dreamy architecture. Brought back so many memories - I used to work in a clothes stall in the covered market and I lived in Jericho! The very first episode of Morse was set there called 'The dead of Jericho'. We used to be able to go to the pub with a large jug, fill it with local beer and take it back to the house! Cant imagine that now somehow. Susie

i'm a fan, rather have always been one for this kind of architecture ! and no better place than London, and Europe to say so to devour these buildings !!
Those are as pretty as a postcard! The indoor market looks like a perfect spot to visit and shop.
Oxford is one of the most significant architectural masterpieces in the world. Every designer should at least visit it once in their life time, because you simply can't appreciate it from a picture.

Boy this takes me back... I did part of my undergrad work at Oxford. I used to visit the indoor market all the time - particular for coffees. Thanks for the memories!
