Architectural Thinking In The Kitchen

Natascha Madeiski porcelain and brass
Natascha Madeiski, now based in the UK, teaches architecture and in addition she designs lighting and furniture, to collaborative public art and independent research into advanced manufacturing and fabrication.

Natascha Madeiski porcelain and brass
Most recently, she has entered the fragile world of ceramics, as always looking for innovation through experimentation with the materials and processes involved.
These items are the result of a collaboration between Natascha Medeiski and Linnie Mclarty. Linnie designed and made each of the metal objects for the containers.

Well I for one am impressed. Each and every porcelain storage jar has its own brass server attached. Superbly designed.

Johnson Tsang - Extraordinary Ceramics

Johnson Tsang ceramics
There is a whole lot more can be done with ceramic than the usual. I personally love what Johnson Tsang does with it. Using traditional Chinese cermics as his inspiraton he creates these thought provoking and amusing pieces, some of which are actually useful (love those noodle dishes).

The website is well worth a visit as you can see each piece in the making.

Decorator's Notebook - Empowering Artisans

Cyanotype candle holder
I came across this website on Twitter. I am not usually drawn to the Ethnic look, I suppose because I had my first home in the 1970s and it reminds me of the hippy era, oh yes I took part in that.
Lambswool Woven Cushion and Blanket Picos
However Decorator's Notebook and it's products have no resemblance to that era I am glad to say.

They ensure each purchase you make brings talented artisans in the developing world closer to a financially stable future. They particularly support women, people with disabilities and ethnically marginalised groups. Your purchase helps to elevate their position in society and gives them the resources, skills and confidence to challenge discrimination and take on new roles in their households and communities.

It is all so effortlessly stylish. I am very tempted to buy that Leather Kindling Bucket, beats the old wine box I store mine in.

A huge plus is they dont just source their products from the third world but also from the UK. I sometimes think we tend to forget that there are people struggling here at home.

Weird But Strangely Fascinating

clay sculptures by Ronit Baranga
I know these clay sculptures are weird to the extreme but they are beautifully executed. Eating my food from one of those bowls could be quite disturbing but what the hell! By Ronit Baranga

Rebecca Wilson - Playing With Ceramics

Rebecca Wilson Ceramics
Sugar Tongs but not as we know them
This is not the first time I have featured Rebecca Wilson's ceramics. Back in 2011 and 2012 she blew me away with her designs. You take a look at her creations and I'm sure you will agree with me that she is hugely talented. Now she is back with some wonderful new designs and clever additions such as crochet and hand beading.
In Rebecca's words "Sugar free, fat free, but completely indulgent. Can you be tempted? Go on, you know you want to!"
