When we set up Ghost Furniture we created rules and Rule No 1 was no shabby chic. We both love shabby chic but only if it is authentic. We only use block colours and it took a very long time to find the right paints.
We do bang on about how we have our paints specially mixed for us in France, this is because we can only find totally matte finishes over there. The paint we use is like emulsion but is for wood and metal. It give a dense finish and is perfect for bringing our furniture back from the dead.
We use a range of metallic paints ot highlight decorative areas on some of our pieces and in this case they are obtainable in the UK.
Also the range of colours we have access to is mind blowing. I have to contol myself every time we visit the company that mixes them for us. In my cottage I only have so much space to store paint.
We will paint anything and these paints never disappoint.
The colours are vivid and the finish is superb.
These are fine examples of genuine shabby chic. Not created to look old but worn over time wth a story to tell.

Your paint does look scrumptiously matte! And I wholeheartedly agree with your comment about only loving 'genuine' shabby chic :)
Very true..Your painting really looks beautiful and elegant.
I have wanted to start writing in my site like that. I will add your rss feed.
