Now this may sound strange but one of my favourite things to do, since I was a kid, is to lie on my back on the floor and pretend that the ceiling is the floor. The covings become skirting boards and centre rose becomes a rug with a lamp standing on it. Well that's just the way I am.
Which ceiling would you like to look up at. I just can't resist that round one against the charcoal grey walls. Anyway it's hard to do my thing with a beamed ceiling.

Love your ceilings-both of them! I think ceilings are the most neglected design element today! The ceiling in my great room is cathedral-like and it sets the mood for our home.
