I've chosen these two fireplaces because they both have history but one hides it under a coat of paint and the other flaunts it.This is no contest for me as I love to see the past in all it's faded glory. Big pieces like fireplaces can reveal strange things people have done to them over the years.
I once bought a big Edwardian house and had endless fun uncovering the original fireplaces which someone had the forethought to fill the chimney spaces with all the grates and canopies etc held in with wooden joists.
Top one please!

I am loving your 'Just Two' series! Here we part though, I like the atmosphere of the 2nd, but like you, I'd peel off some paint to show more wear...
I think I'll take number one. With a martini, of course.

I really enjoy your 'Just Two' Series. Always nice pics that inspire me. I have the pleasure of renovating and arranging furniture for an old Italian Palazzo.
I linked to your site. Thanks.
i adore pic #2. i was thinking of painting something like that for my recent concentration. :-)
Number 1 for me. But I bet you already knew that.
where did you get these beautiful photos!! I love the first one more, but wouldn't mind to have the second one in the bathroom, having a long warm bath - a woman can dream, can't she?...
Normally I'm not a fan of green but there's something about that particular wallpaper and warm light that comes across as really tasty.
Oooooooooooo!
I like these single BIG photos!!!
MORE PLEASE :)
I love the picture at the bottom, what a wonderful room.
