Last Wednesday our youngest daughter, Charlotte, came home from Paris for a few days to celebrate her 21st birthday with the family. I decided to make her a birthday cake myself. I took a little journey to a local cake decorating accessories shop and asked if they had any chocolate leaf moulds. The lady who owned the shop told me not to bother buying one but to pick some leaves from the garden that were heavily veined on the back and to cover them with melted chocolate, leave in the fridge until they set and then peel the leaves off the chocolate. How she is still open is a mystery to me if she does this all the time but I love her for it. My chocolate leaves were a huge success and this has given me some great ideas for my new business (trade secret).
I then decorated the cake with tiny silk and paper flowers and leaves which I had left from gift wrapping bits and pieces that I tend to hoard and all in all I don't think it was a bad attempt. I did however have to warn everyone not to eat the flowers and green leaves.
Lastly, I can't believe that my baby is 21 it seems like only yesterday she uttered her first words and now she speaks fluent French as well as English.
