Real Shabby Chic is the type that is done with original items. The whole point is that it is shabby because it has been used and has an interesting past.
Too many people are setting up businesses selling a new, clean version of this look. I really don't get anything out of looking at or living with a shabby looking piece which someone has made to look shabby.
Just wander around the French Flea Markets to see what I mean. This garden is a fine example of Real Shabby Chic.
