Lavender Fields and Haystacks

It's been a strange day. We set off this morning for Hexham our local market town to find some stuff for the new business at a great shop there that sells vintage items. It is an Aladdin's Cave of a shop on 3 floors and you have to rummage around to find some real gems. IT WAS SHUT. They close on Thursdays - surprise suprise. I can't get used to shopping during the week, still one lesson learned today.

Whilst driving down the country roads I spotted a field which looked as though it was filled with lavender so we screeched to a halt to allow me to photograph it for my blog. Sadly it was linseed which doesn't sound so romantic.

The next field that caught my eye was a field full of haystacks. Do you remember haystacks? You could sit on them which you certainly couldn't do on one of those awful giant rolls covered in plastic. Dotted around the garden in summer, covered with thick rugs to stop the hay sticking in your backside they look so rustic and charming.
