Living in a very old property comes with its problems but the solution, to me anyway, is to leave signs of age alone. It's part of the history. This home in the East Village, New York is owned by John Derian, the decoupage man, as I call him.
He calls it his nonrenovation renovation. I have walls in my cottage that are rough and ready but with a lick of white paint they look gorgeous. I think this home shows perfectly how cope with old.
