When You Can't Find A Wall Light - Make It Yourself

my vintage wall lights
You would think that I of all people would be able to find a vintage wall light. Well you would be wrong. I got so sick of searching that I decided to design and make them myself.
Recipe:
Take 2 vintage frames
2 concealed hangers for frames
2 backboards painted the same colour as your wall, drill hole in each for wire to pass through
2 blocks of wood placed on reverse of backboards to screws from light fittings
2 very plain wall lights
2 shades from Ghost Furniture accessories range
Put them all together and get a man to wire them into the wall
Result - 2 wall lights that no other person on earth will have.

Jean Paul Gaultier Room For Elle Decoration

Jean Paul Gaultier Room For Elle Decoration
When I was in Paris a couple of weeks ago I bought a copy of Elle Decoration which had a fabulous article on Jean Paul Gaultier and some images of the fabulous room he made for Elle Decoration in France. Today I found he had done an interview with Yatzer (well worth a read) and some of the images were there. Saved me having to scan them - thanks Yatzer

Charlotte Taylor - It's All In The Name

charlotte taylor a/w 2010
Charlotte Taylor emailed me yesterday asking me to take a look at her Autumn/Winter 2010 collection. So pleased she did. A true tailor if ever there was one. I love her Penguin Fabric and the way it is used, not overpowering just right.

Clerkenwell Design Week

clerkenwell design week
Clerkenwell is in London, EC1 to be precise. I am not there but my friend lives there and he is sending me images of the goings on in the streets. This week is Clerkenwell Design Week and it is right up my street, or not as the case may be. Thank you Colin you have made a jealous girl very envious.

Come Back Sunshine - Eating Outdoors

Last week the sun shone like crazy and I spent some time making my garden good enough to eat in. The sun promptly disappeared. That's England for you.

There's Shabby Chic Then There's Rachel Ashwell

rachel_ashwell_shabby_chic
I don't produce shabby chic pieces myself unless requested. The reason for this is that I much prefer REAL shabby chic. The sort of shabby that has been created by time. In the case of Rachel Ashwell, who could be said to be the Queen of Shabby Chic, I forgive anything that is created by paint effects etc as she does it so very well.
These images from her new website.

Moggit - My Sort of Humour

moggit
It's said that 'sarcasm is the lowest form of wit' but in the case of Moggit it just makes me howl. I love their irreverent comments on various designs. I swear I wouldn't even mind if they did it to Ghost Furniture because they do it so well.
