RS&A in London asked famous artists to make their own chess sets. I was absolutely blown away by the results. Please go and visit the website and see these in close up they are amazing, just click on The Art of Chess Mauritzio Cattelan Good v Evil Paul McCarthy Kitchen Set Tracey Emin Matthew Ronay
I bought my friend a brilliant chess set last year, glass top raised by four tree stumps, a landscape underneath, and the pieces were all fairies. Lovely! Unfortunately I don't have a picture, and can't seem to find it anywhere...
This is such a coincidence, I stumbled on this 'http://flickr.com/photos/phosphorbox/62353714/in/set-1347283/' set the other day and started on a 'chess board' inspiration spree :)
