I worked in a 5 star hotel for just one summer season back in the 1960s and basically I was crap. The only decent tip I got was from a man with a sense of humour, who I covered in meringue, when trying to serve it to him in a manner called silver service (my first try) and whoever it was who invented silver service should be shot.
I just wish I had read this back then and I could have used it on all those impatient customers.

One summer in Nantucket I tried to work in a pancake restaurant.
The defining blueberry fell off the top of the stack and I gave them to the wrong person.
The pancakes went right back to the chef/owner who then threw them against the kitchen wall.
I ran out of the restaurant never to return!
I'd forgotten :)
as a former steakhouse waitress, i most heartily approve and would have loved to have this on a tee to be appreciated by all my customers.
