I think us Brits do excellent Sofas. We have a huge selection of sofas in the UK and as long as you avoid the big shed stores (exclude IKEA) then the choice of quality sofas is huge.
These two are from a British staple - The Sofa Workshop.
I have 2 exactly the same as the one in the top photograph. They are wonderfully comfortable and one turns into a double bed for guests.
The sofa in the bottom pic is appliqued.
