The Perfect Brocante

On Sunday we visited the little town of Saint-Jean-les-Deux-Jumeaux just outside Paris. When we arrived we turned right into the brocante. Little did we know on the other side of the road was the rest of it which was HUGE.

It was in the most perfect setting set around a beautiful lake and at its centre a huge street food section under the trees.

Our granddaughter Tiana ignoring the swans and their cygnets. She was a little angel, she loves a brocante, it must be in the genes.

After walking around I was sorely tempted to jump in the lake but didn't.

Some of my French brocante finds needing a desperate overhaul but beautiful just the same.

Off To Paris

 

We are off to Paris today to spend time with our daughter Charlotte and her little family. Tiana our granddaughter is now 16 months old, how time flies.

We will be proper grand parents this time looking after Tiana whilst Charlotte and her partner Bad run their new business - The Pauper's Kitchen bringing British food to the French and believe it or not the French love it.

We also have to fit in trawling the brocantes and flea markets for Ghost Furniture pieces which can occur in the most beautiful places, it's a hard life.

 Finding little gems at the French versions of our Car Boot Fairs, no comparison.

Daily visits to the local food markets

Stopping numerous times for cafe au lait.

 Buying fresh flowers just because.

 Morning visits to the boulangerie, the very best way to start your day.

The Lady Arrives In The 21st Century

I have had some pieces of my Ghost Furniture featured a few times in The Lady magazine with great responses. I took a tour around their website the other day and it is one great read. Not just fashion and homes but culture, etiquette, food, vintage and much much more.Very British and very very good.

Now this is what I call great advertising. If you live in the UK you have most probaby seen the British Airways ad - London Calling - where a BA plane moves around the streets of London.

Go to their Facebook page and enter your postcde and the same thing will happen in your street. This is the plane moving around my little hamlet. How clever is that?

Stages On Lake Constance, Bregenz

These amazing stages have been set up on Lake Constance in Bregenz, Austria. They are truly mind boggling. I went on holiday to Lake Constance when I was 12 and was saved from drowning in there by my cousin Ann. No stages there then, would have been truly dramatic to have been pumped out on one of these.
