In Your Face Tapestries - Jennie Moncur

I bought a copy of BBC Homes and Antiques the other day (fab magazine by the way) and there was an article on Jennie Moncur who does these fabulous tapestries. I absolutely adore them. So bold and so brave. In Jennie's words:
Each textile tells us that we rarely see things as a whole, but the interruption of one image by another can teases our sense of perspective and result in something quite joyous to behold.
Well it certainly teases me and makes me feel joyous.

Meet The Babies

At last Spring has sprung and the fields around my cottage are full of new life. I have tried to capture pictures of the baby lambs and calves but gave up and got these from young Zak Varty our friend's son who is a much better photographer than I. They are the same lambs but looking a lot better thanks to Zak.

Have You Ever Been a Waitress?

I worked in a 5 star hotel for just one summer season back in the 1960s and basically I was crap. The only decent tip I got was from a man with a sense of humour, who I covered in meringue, when trying to serve it to him in a manner called silver service (my first try) and whoever it was who invented silver service should be shot.
I just wish I had read this back then and I could have used it on all those impatient customers.

New at Maisons du Monde

I'm off to Paris soon and as usual I will make a bee-line for the nearest Maisons du Monde store and I am dying to see these new items in the flesh.

OK I confess I am a Zinc addict. I love the look and feel of the stuff. Whenever I am in France I rush into those old bars that have zinc counters and could sit on one all day long.
